Clients now report a valid licence as invalid

I have the generic linux64 Virtualhere server (3.6.7) installed on a linux server running OpenMediaVault 4.1.9. The VH server is licensed for 3 devices and 3 devices are attached.
Today the server was updated. The only update was to Linux kernel 4.17.0-0.bpo.1-amd64.
Coincidentally, snce then all clients (4.5.4) report that my licence is "invalid". The VH server and attached devices are displayed in the client.
Trying to connect a single USB device generates a "trial expired" message from the VH client even though this is a generic VH server build.
Clicking "licence" on a client displays the server serial followed by "1 device" as one normally sees before purchasing. The serial number is the same as that in my licence "string". Adding the licence again via the client does nothing.
Checking config.ini on the server shows my licence (as purchsed) stored there.
I have tried disconnecting all clients and stopping and starting the VH server but the VH client still subsequently states that the licence is invalid.

What can I try next?

Ok thats weird, the only thing i can think of is that the server is somehow using another config.ini file. Is there anymore config.ini files on the server that the vhusbdx86_64 might be using by default. Perhaps try using the -c argument for the server to specify the full path to the config.ini file

There's only one config.ini file in the same folder as vhusbd86_64. I tried specifying this config file but it still rejects my licence.

#4

Thinking about it, it must be reading the config.ini file because the DeviceNicknames are correct and it is using the pem file for SSL

I tried moving the VH server and config file to another folder on the server. The client connected but again it rejected the licence. I tried a couple of older clients (back to 4.4.0) and even the previous version of the server (3.6.6) but the same occurs. I didn't have much hope doing that as it previously did work with the latest server and client. It's almost as if the clients can no longer decode the licence key.

Ok start the virtualhere client when you see the server listed, right click USB hubs license copy to clipboard and paste into an email to mail [at] virtualhere.com (mail[at]virtualhere[dot]com)
