Kernel panic on MacOS 10.14.5 when unusing virtual device

I am trialing Virtualhere to see if it would work providing remote access to some ham radio gear (using FTDI usb-serial adapters). I have a RaspPi 3 B+ running the generic Arm VH server and a Mac running 10.14.5 (Mojave) running the VH client. My initial test was on my home network. I can see the device on the Mac client, attach to it, and control the remote device. However, when I am finished and right click the device to "unuse" it, my Mac will kernel panic. It happens every time when I try to "unuse" the virtual device. I have searched the support forums and couldn't find this problem/solution documented anywhere. Please let me know how I can help troubleshoot this. I don't know if it matters, but the Mac is a 2018 Mac Mini quad core i7 with 32gig RAM. Thank you!

If possible, could you send me the latest panic log listed on the Console Viewer in OSX. mail [at] virtualhere.com (mail[at]virtualhere[dot]com) Thanks!

I can't find a panic log or anything similar in DiagnosticsReporter so my diagnosis of a kernel panic might be wrong. However, the system crashes and reboots every time.

I found a FT232R around the house and installed the osx ftdi driver from here https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm and then connected to the serial using ZTerm and it works fine unusing/using etc on osx 10.14.5

So im thinking perhaps you could try that vcp driver in the link, if that doesnt fix it i dont think its going to work.
