OSX client crashes, causes kernel panic under adverse conditions

I'm running the OSX client 3.7.6 under OSX 10.11.5. I downloaded the client, installed the drivers as prompted and rebooted.

I ran the client and it discovered my VirturalHere instance running on my Raspberry PI. I selected the USB port of interest and double clicked to connect. The device at the other end is a USB console port for a Cisco router. I run a terminal program called DataCommnet-Secure v. 10.2.2. From there I can select various interfaces to establish a terminal session; in this case under the "Serial" drop-down I now see two new USB devices. Clicking one of the devices results in establishing a terminal session with the device, perfect!

Now for the problem...while I have this session established, if I go back to the VirtualHere panel and double-click the connection to disconnect from the Raspberry Pi server, my Mac immediately locks up hard, and 20 or so seconds later causes a kernel panic. Restarting naturally clears the issue.

So it's not clear to me what app is causing the kernel panic...I guess it could be disconnecting VirtualHere in the middle of a remote session, or DataCommnet having the connection ripped out from under it. Is there a way I can tell from the core dump (assuming one is generated and I can find it) which app might be to blame?
