Can i just buy once ?

Hello,

i found out about this software through the steam links settings menu, and read a bit more into it on this website and was thinking "hey, that looks like it will be cheaper than a wireless usb hub ready made"

i have a steam link that i would like to enable this functionality on, and i also have a few spare pi zeros that i want to use as virtulhere servers, but £70 to buy both versions is a bit steep in my eyes.

so my question is, can i just buy the steam version (and unlimited devices "dlc") and use that with my steam link and a pi zero with no restrictions ?
or is there any other way i can just pay once and use on all devices ?

No the steam link and normal virtualhere are separate servers. Valve handles the steamlink and the licenses cant be mixed. You can however use the free version of virtualhere for the pi0 if you use the "generic arm build" of the server. It is limited to one device unless you buy it.

ok, i guess i will eventually buy both than but it is good that that there is a free 1 device version that i can try on the pi to see how it preforms before i buy.
i know its beyond your control, but i think making the decision to buy would be eaiser if valve offered a trial either time limited or device limited.

Valve already do offer what is essentially a trial, you can get a refund if you return the software in less than 2hrs. Therefore you have 2hrs to trial it..its the same with all steam games/utilities etc
