So, my goal is to stream the mic from my USB gaming headset over the internet (via nvidia shield ATV) to my PC for use with in game chat and have the sound sent back from the PC via gamestream to the shield and then back to my headset.
I spent a few hours last night trying to get this setup with mixed results. I can stream the mic to the PC without to many problems but the sound coming back from the PC is really bad (broken up & distorted). Is this to be expected when streaming sound over the internet with virtualhere? I should mention the link between the PC and shield is fine for gamestream.
In order to be able to use the headset mic and have sound coming back from the PC, I had to disable the headset as a playback device in windows (Windows picks up the device without issue on the client side of virtualhere) and plug another set of headphones in to the shield as the headset ones are unavailable to the shield once control is passed over to virtualhere.
Should what I am hoping to achieve be possible with virtualhere over the internet?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, are you talking about the "internet" as in over the actual internet to a remote location - if so, not possible, and the sound will not function correctly
or do you mean LAN (your home network only). This is usually possible but you need to be using a ethernet connection and not wifi to minimize latency

Thats a shame. Yes, I did mean over the internet (not lan), I think I had unreasonable expectations based on gamestream over internet but I understand this is a different way of doing things. I have got a couple of other ideas to try and achieve the same result (maybe convert mic input to a live stream that can be picked up at the PC end and mixed back to a mic channel).
Great program anyway. I am sure I will find another use for it.

ok thats quite surprising the audio mic/headphones work at all over the internet as its very latency sensitive.. you could try using a bluetooth headset as that packages the sounds into bigger packet buffer which might improve things a bit...share the bluetooth dongle via virtualhere and then pair to it
