Mac OS 10.3.2 - Propellerhead Ignition Key/Synology NAS Issue

Good afternoon,

Recently I purchased a license with VirtualHere so that I may utilize my iLok and Propellerhead Ignition key on my home network. I have it up and running fine on my Windows 10 machine but I am having issues with my Macbook Pro (OS 10.13.2).

I have downloaded the Mac OS client of VirtualHere for my Mac, will run it, make sure my PC is not using any of the dongles (verified by the USB Tree via VirtualHere) and will then select to use the Ignition key (selecting both the port and device for use) and the ignition key will show up on my mac's desktop (as expected). However, when I go to launch Reason it still tries to get me to use the 'online' login method instead of just utilizing the ignition key. This only happens on my mac, as my PC will pick up on it and run Reason and my iLok dongle without issue.

Even after installing the CodeMeter application for my mac (which is what that ignition key uses) and logging into my Propellerhead account and launching the ignition key feauture, it shows that it cannot recognize or see that an Ignition key is plugged in even though I have told my mac to use the ignition key via virtualhere and it is showing on my desktop.

Also, side note, I have my ignition key and iLok dongle plugged into my Synology NAS device that is hooked up to my home network.

I am also receiving a weird error on my mac in regards to the iLok dongle. It keeps telling me that I cannot share it and it needs to be 'unplugged and plugged back in for use" on my mac. Even having the device solely in use by my Mac and not my PC I still get this error/warning.

Can someone help a brother out?

Thanks

OK, i havent not see that error before. Looks like the ignition key is not compatible with 10.13.2 via virtualhere. Can you upgrade to 10.13.4 if possible. Apple is improving usb support in later builds of osx.

Also if you want to use an iLok between your machines it needs to be physically replugged so that the power is cycled in the device. Then it wont say "This ilok cannot be used in a network environment"

Thank you Michael, I will give that a try.

I appreciate the heads up in regards to the iLok device.

Will report my status with Ignition key after update.

Hmm strange.. I just unplugged my Ignition key and plugged it straight into my mac and it picked up the Ignition key without issue but the moment I plug it into the NAS I have the issues. However, it works completely fine on my windows 10 machine.

OK i think it just might not be compatible via virtualhere for 10.13.4 (did you upgrade ? ) at the moment

#7

No sir, still on 10.13.2 (Propellerhead strongly discourages 10.13.4 due to issues with Reason and 10.13.4 currently).

Not sure if this log is anymore help but here is what it states:

Actually, that log could have been due to me closing the lid on my macbook pro last night.

I will say, what is strange is, last week when I would select to use this device/port for codemeter (reason ignition) it would mount it on my macbook's desktop. For whatever reason now I don't see it ever mounting. I apologize for being a nuance here

OK i think osx is a bit of a mess at the moment, as apple is putting in a lot of bugs. when you can upgrade to 10.13.4 i think you should try it again via virtualhere.

Will do and will report back. Thanks!
