User name not showing (In use by at MYPC)

The user name is not showing in the client (4.6.7).

This occurs when on the local network and when connected remotely via a VPN (windows client).

I tried my Mac client via the VPN and it doesn't find any hubs at all (but that's probably a different issue). I haven't tried the Mac client on the local network.

The changelog claims the issue was fixed in 4.6.6, so it may be a regression in 4.6.7 or maybe it's not completely fixed. Also it might be a Windows 10 thing?

I have a screenshot. How do I attach it to the support discussion?

Thanks, Brendan.

It should be ok, can you tell me the server version you are using? Also auto-find wont work over a VPN because it probably filters UDP broadcasts

Actually i see the issue.

1. Previous to 4.6.6 it will just duplicate the "username (username)" when showing who is using a device with a windows client.
2. After 4.6.6 it will correctly get the "actual name of the user (username)" . If you dont have a users "full name" in windows then actually it will just display nothing. Its a slight bug because it really should just show "nothing (username)" instead. Do you actually have a "full name" in your account in windows?

OK. It worked over VPN on my Windows box, but on on Mac, but I forgot that I specified the hub. It works now on Mac when I specify the hub :)

The be more specific, some we have a number of users connected to devices on the same server/hub, but my name does not show up. The client is running on Windows 7 Pro (that is connected the device on the server/hub).

When I connect another PC (Win10 and Mac) to the server/hub (via the VPN) it does not show the user name for my device. What's weird is it shows the user name for other users (but I'm sure they're running older versions of the client).

The service is 3.8.3, running no a Raspberry Pi (licensed)

OK you might have missed the post as i added soon after. Do your users have "Full Name" i.e when you run netplwiz and click properties on a user do you see a full name?

My Computer (right click) => Manage => Local Users and Groups => Users => Brendan (right click) => Properties

Enter Full name (it was blank).

Restart VH client.

Username (first word) now appears in my other VH client (via VPN).

Suggest resorting to old display if full name is blank, rather than displaying nothing.

OK so its a slight bug, ill add a fix for users with no name in the next client build out today or tomorrow

No cannot prompt, need admin access, virtualhere client should not get that
