Hello Michael,
I've sent you an e-mail and then decided to post the questions here is they
may be of interest for somebody else as well.
I've just bought your software for my Synology DS1019+ NAS. It is a
very convienient approcach for the software to run as a Windows
service allowing a transparent USB over IP functionality.
But I have several questions regarding the software features and limitations.
1. It seems like USB over IP provides approximately 2-3x times slower
transfer rates if compare to CIFS/SMB (and if compare to genuine USB)
with the same SD card reader. Is USB over IP supposed to be 2-3x times
slower than CIFS/SMB (and genuine USB)? I mean cases where USB 2.0
speed limitation is not a bottleneck, let say ordinary class 10 SD
cards with 30-50 MB/s read/write speed.
2. Does your software provide USB 3.0 functionality? I mean a bunch
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 Client + Synology DS1019 NAS Server. The
Windows machine utilizes Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller
Driver 5.0.4.43_v2 (there is no native support for USB 3.0 in Windows
7). My SD card reader is detected as USB 2.0 device when virtually
connected over IP (Device Bus Speed is detected as 0x02 High-Speed),
though it is a USB 3.0 device.
Thank you in advance for your answers.
.
1. The network latency slows it down. Via usb2 approx 10megabytes sec us expected, via USB 3 30megabytes sec.
2. Use win10 client for USB 3 support
