Can multiple users connect to a scanner on Virtualhere (Raspberry Pi)

Hey,

Just wondering if you can have 2 or 3 users effectively share a USB scanner (No network port on it). Not all would need to scan at the same time but it would be placed as a central resource all 3 can access.

Thanks,
Matt

No each user needs to use the scanner via when they want to scan. They cant use it simultaneously

I dont mean all of them scanning at once, but more so each of them can use it. The epson uses its own app and the canon is a bit older and is used through an app but its added as a local device (No application to manage it)

So i went and grabbed a license, set up the scanner but it seems one of the computers will connect to the scanner and then never release its connection, so the others cant use it? I have the client installed as a service and when i look at the gui it says EPSON Scanner (In use by STSTEM at SDSD009).

Is there a way for it to time itself out after 20 minutes of not being used or will I have to manually switch which machine uses it through the gui each time?

OK yes that can be resolved.

Exit the virtualhere client and start in Administrator mode

vhui64.exe -a

then right click on an In-Use device and select "Disconnect from User" then you can grab it yourself

That still falls under manual switching though. Is there a way to have it auto-disconnect or is that not possible?

Not possible in the virtualhere client

So you need to write your own program to do this using the virtualhere client api if you want. https://www.virtualhere.com/client_api

e.g a powerscript file that runs 20mins after that device is attached
