I have setup this tool on Dell R820 USB Virtual Devices running on a VM windows 10 inside XCP-ng.

I can't get any USB device to show up in the Client screen.

I've rebooted the VM and Server not success

Sorry i dont debug network issues. If port 7575 is open it will work. If not there is a firewall or something in the way

Michael,

Many thanks for the pointer

I've made sure the windows firewall and AVAST are both shutdown.... I restarted the USB Server. I still can't see any device.

At the risk of sounding NOB does this software require the IP to ping your server?

Any thought on what tool I can run to test the USB Port or what might be blocking? I do run the system on VPN .........

Many thanks

No, VirtualHere doesnt "phone home" in any way. You can use it completely outside the internet if you want.

#7

Michael,,, I like the concept of ET...

I'm trying other VM's and a different server tonight to see if it's so setup issue..... any thoughts on how to find whats blocking the USB from functioning it. IS there some tool to use or check list of magic?

I loged into the sever and looking at the device manager I see under

"Universal Serial Bus Controller"
VirtualHere USB 3 eXtensible Host Controller

how I know which com port my device is assigned ? the software I'm running is looking for a specific Com port to read the USB serial device information.

In the VirtualHere Client I see a
Windows Hub
-QEMU USB Tablet I don't know what this device is it doesn't seem to go away if I unplug my serial device.

PS can you edit a post after you save? or post pictures?

Many thanks

OK no you cannot run virtualhere server inside a VM. You are running the virtualhere windows server inside QEMU so it wont work properly because it cannot access the USB devices reliably via the hypervisor.

Note that the virtualhere *client* will work fine inside a QEMU or any VM

Well then I'm lost, you indicated " You cannot run virtualhere server inside a VM" ..... I thought you installed the VirtualHere .exe inside the windows VM running in XCP-ng.

Where did I go wrong?
