Hi,
I have seen some old posts reporting this type of problem. Not sure if it is still an issue or a newbie error.
I set up an old Macbook running MacOS 11.6.5 Big Sur a server and have and an iPhone running IOS 15.4.1 connected to it. I have tried to connect from a Mac VM and a local Windows PC without any success. All I see is "Error connecting to this device."
I have an Android phone also connected to the Mac server and can connect to it with no trouble.
Does the Mac block remote connections to an iPhone? Is there something I can do about it?
I could equally use a Raspberry Pi or Windows 10 PC as the server. I have already paid for a license for the Mac.
Thanks in advance,
Rob
Further problem - is it my Mac VM?
Hi again,
I just tried setting up a Windows PC as a server with a free license and the iPhone plugged in. Another Windows PC can connect to it with no trouble. The Mac VM will connect but disconnects after a few seconds.
The Mac instance is provided by MacInCloud. It is running MacOS 12.3.1, Monterey. Could it be that the provider is blocking access to the iPhone. I can access the Android with no problems.
Thanks in advance,
Rob
.
At the moment iphone is not supported on Monterey via the virtualhere client. It probably will be at some point (it used to be supported up to 10.14) but no ETA at the moment.
That is a pain. I bought the
That is a pain. I bought the VirtualHere license specifically to communicate with my iPhone from a Monterey VM. I need Monterey because I need the most recent Xcode. The whole wobbling mass of Visual Studio/Xamarin depends on it.
I've been attempting to do
I've been attempting to do something similar with a Monterey VM since I've had no luck getting the VM to see an iPhone when trying USB passthrough (Proxmox).
The VH client for Mac works in terms of recognizing the VH server (running from a Windows 10 Surface Go2 + USB hub), however when the iPhone shows up in the client on the VM, and I choose the device, Windows tends to fight with the VH Server.
The goal overall in my case is to make use of Apple Configurator 2 which needs to see devices connected via USB (else Paired via BT), however I realize trying to go about this using an OSX VM is outside the scope of the way Apple perceived Configurator being used.
