Windows 11 x64 - Virtualhere server - xbox adapter for windows

Virtualhere trial (Windows store app)
Device: HP envy laptop
Server: Windows 11 pro x64

Dongle: https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/accessories/adapters/wireless-adapter-windows

Problem:

The client can see the device and lets me connect but then the controller loses it;s pairing and cannot connect to the dongle.

It powers up / white flashing light or does not (sometimes) but cannot be made to pair. It's like it's locked.
