I suspect this has been asked before, so I apologize about not being able to find it. I am attempting to do the *relatively* common task of running an HTC Vive Facial Tracker through the Oculus Quest, but as Meta has been locking it down recently I’m very wary of committing to any single method.
I am attempting to set up VirtualHere to route it through the quest, but despite only having plugged in a single device I am being told “free trial expired” before even being able to see if this works. I can’t spend a non-refundable 50 dollars on this software without knowing for certain that this solution will work for me, so I was either hoping I could receive guidance on refreshing the free trial to get things functioning, or some form of assurance that VirtualHere will accomplish this task and won’t become impossible to use due to a software change at some point in the future.
.
If you can buy virtualhere via the play store (not sure if sideloaded apps support that?) then there is a 2 day return window. Its never been $50, its $25
Apparently it works ok https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFESUGjbxeo

That video is what I based my methods on, but unfortunately that one is out of date. There is no way to purchase the app, only side load it with an android APK to my knowledge. If there is a way to refundable purchase it, I would appreciate if you could share it.
.
No there are no refunds except via the playstore
.
Is there any way to refresh the free trial? I can’t think of anything I’ve done to violate it, I plugged a single device into a single android device with a single server.
.
I don't want to support sideloaded android
.
I’m sorry, can you clarify? SideQuest is a well known platform, and I can see many others in the forum here who’ve done just about what I have before, but before the app changed.
.
Yes basically google is tightening the noose and i have to keep updating to support their play store.
I dont want to be concerned about whether the app will work being sideloaded or backporting it for older APIs that some random other Android devices might have.
So I decided a year ago ill just support the Play Store for the time being, hence you wont find an apk on my website for virtualhere. You would have downloaded it from one of those dodgy apk archive websites.
I did buy an Oculus 1 and attempted to properly have virtualhere in their store, but it was so buggy and overly complicated to work with the Facebook APIs i gave up and cant really be bothered with it.
.
I understand your perspective, and I thank you for your clarification. Do you know of any alternatives that may work better for my use case? I defer to your expertise.
.
I dont know if anything like virtualhere is in their "app store" I suspect probably not.
