Virtualhere linux client does not create any ttyUSB

Hello,

My hardware and set up are:

  • server : RPi4 + 2 usb devices: laser cutter and webcam.  vhusbdarm64 + license, as 2 usb devices are plugged in the RPi4
  • client1: pc with Windows 11: all is fine. My laser and webcam are recognized by the laser software Lightburn as if the devices were plugged in the pc ;-)
    or
  • client2: pc with linux Ubuntu 22.04/Mate
The client vhuit64 can see both USBs, thus I use them.
But only the webcam is recognized by LightBurn.
    Virtualhere client system messages are:
    2023-12-03 18:39:02 INFO  :VirtualHere Client 5.5.6 starting (Compiled: Nov  8 2023 04:45:20)

But I cannot find any ttyUSB* in /dev. Thus, LightBurn cannot connect to the laser cutter.

How to fix this issue?

Regards,

Do you have the linux driver for your USB->Serial adapter installed?

Hi Michael,

You founded the problem !

Indeed, I did not plugged yet the laser cutter directly to my linux pc. I did and  discovered that it was not recognized, even if the driver ch340 is already integrated to Linux Ubuntu 22. As written here, 2 files of the latest versions of Ubuntu should be modified to recognize the laser usb. Now a new ttyUSB0 is created.

And VirtualHere works perfectly ;-)

Thank you very much!
