Hey,
I'm using the Tobii Eye Tracker 5 with VirtualHere, and it generally works quite well with VirtualHere!
The problem is that after 10-20 minutes, the Tracker disconnects. Sometimes it helps to simply disconnect the USB connection and reconnect it. Sometimes the whole software needs to be reset.
I noticed that with an rather unstable Network connection, it happens more often. Since then I replaced it (I used LAN over power) with Ethernet and Glassfibre (locally in my home network) and it happens more rarely, but still around every 15 minutes.
Any ideas?
(I btw also saw the other thread to the eyetracker, but for him it didn't work at all for some reason and the thread was older)
.
Have a look at the virtualhere server log when it happens.
If it says "SURPRISE UNBOUND" around the time it drops that means the firmware inside the camera is crashing
If is says "UNBOUND (timeout)" then its a network issue.
The log for a linux server is in /var/log/syslog for windows its a bit more difficult as in Event Viewer
Thank you for your answer. I…
Thank you for your answer. I made some further tests and changes to my home networking setup - so it took me some while.
I want to clarify my setup:
Macbook (Server) -> Windows Desktop (Client)
First I used DLAN and indeed got some times "UNBOUND (timeout)". Then because also of other reasons (DLAN is really shitty), I replaced it through a reliable glass-fibre connection and the error did not appear anymore.
Also I replaced my USB Hub with a powered Hub. With that I can make it work for around one hour.
After that it still randomly shuts off. However VirtualHere does not show any message at all in the logs when that happens. Also Windows seems to still see the device. It just stops working (and the LEDs of the device are off). Replugging the USB device fixes it again it happens again.

That is very weird, the whole device just turns off. Are you running the very latest firmware for the tobii eye tracker 5 https://help.tobii.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015813357-Tobii-Experience-for-Eye-Tracker-5-Release-notes i see there are a few things about disconnection and stability improvements
