BSOD by Sharing USB Serial Port Adapter on Synology

Hi,

first of all, thank you for developing such a great software.

I`m trying to install configure my Synology DS414 to share an USB-Serial Adapter to an Windows XP SP3 x86 Client (virtualised with Hyper V Hypervisor (I know, Windows XP is out of Date, but on this machine runs a special software which doesn`t run under later OS.

I`ve downloaded and installed the right *.spk File from your Page. After installing ist, the client sofware finds the Synology NAS and the attached USB Device. After installing the drivers for VirtualHere the USB device shows up in the device manager of Windows. Then a Bluescreen. Ok, another try. After the second try it runs and i can configure my Adapter to COM1. I set up to connect the Adapter an boot and since then there appears an BSOD after starting your Software. Sometimes i can choose the Synology device. But after connecting to the virtual adapter Windows freezes. There aren`t any log files (i cannot find the nor there is a path specified in your instructions).

Can you help me by this special problem ?

Hello again,

is there any "Edit" Button or am I just blind ?

I`ve tried the same setup with Windows 8.1 x64. Works like a charme. I think the problem is within Windows XP. Any ideas ?

Thanks,
Lars

Yes its crashing in the prolific driver. I think prolific drivers in later windows versions are more stable. FTDI is also fine with virtualhere.

Hi,

i`ve found some other USB-RS232 Adapter from Digitus in one of my Part-Storages ;). They use an FTDI Chipset so I gave them a try. Identical Setup (Server: Synology DS414 Client: Virtual XP [Hyper-V]) .
All things work fine. Now I will purchase a licence.

Michael, thank you for your really quick Support !
