Hello, we are switching to a new NAS (TS-873AeU) with QuTS Hero (Version QuTShero h5.2.2.2952 (2024/11/16)).
However, we cannot find the VirtualHere USB Server in the app Center.
When i manually Install it it works but i cannnot open the Server
If you need more info or logs, please tell me how i can get them.
Thanks
Also the latest version is 4…
Also the latest version is 4.7.3 but QNAP just has 4.4.0?
.
I have emailed and submitted the updated virtualhere app many times to qnap but there is response. So its stuck at 4.4.0 I don't know why, perhaps they are busy with their new QTS development at the moment.
Anyway If you ssh to the NAS and run
ps -ef | grep vh
do you see vhusbd running? (It might not support the-ef
argument so don't add that if it complains)Hello, yes vhusbd is running…
Hello, yes vhusbd is running:
[****@**** ~]$ ps -ef | grep vh
7330 admin 596 S /share/ZFS530_DATA/.qpkg/VirtualHere/vhusbdx86_64 -r stdout -c /share/ZFS530_DATA/.qpkg/VirtualHere/config.ini
17680 METALL-N 1028 S grep vh
We have two identical QNAP Models and are also having the same problem on both of them. They are equipped with 2x M.2 1TB SSDs and 8x 8TB HDDs. We have configured the SSDs in RAID 1 and I can also see that it is installed in Volume 1 (taking 4.22mb). 0mb Pool Overprovisioning.
We created a new administrator account and disabled the original admin account.
Here is /var/log/vhusbd.txt (after some playing around):
[****@**** VirtualHere]$ cat /var/log/vhusbd.txt

Is there any other way to test if it is working? What should happen when i click on the Server Icon in QuTS Hero?
Thanks for you help!
It works?
Ok at first I didn't even try the USB Client app because I though that the server itself would not even work, but after downloading it it appears that everything works, I connected a USB stick and can use it on my Windows PC now.
Is there anything supposed to happen when i click the VirtualHere USB Server Icon on my QNAP? I thougt that maybe there would be a configuration UI? But apart from that, everything looks good now.
The only other weird things are that the App does not show up when click the Hamburger Menu in the QNAP WEBUI, and like I said i had to manually install the Server because I couldn't find it in the App Store, but if that is an Outdated version anyway I guess it doen't really matter...
.
The virtualhere icon just should open a webpage describing how to use virtualhere, that is all.
How to activate?
Just a follow-up question, how would I go about activating the Server, is it possible to do this via SSH too? Because if I cannot access the UI, ...
.
You can do it from the virtualhere client just like normal
.
I've never done that, how exactly? When i click on properties I can click on "Buy", but where do I then enter the Licence key that I bought? See here: https://imgur.com/a/Efpon8Y
.
just follow the instructions here
