Thanks for all your support to date, we've got our server up and running and are just awaiting the large multi-port powered hubs to replace the spaghetti of daisy-chained 7-port hubs cluttering up my desk!!
My request, along with the previous one regarding alphabetising or grouping of dongle names, is to have a 'lite' version of the client which only allows 'Use' and 'Stop Using'. Or an option to grey-out certain options...
Unfortunately, we have a bunch of jokers in the office who will find it hillarious to rename all the dongles as they bugger off on holiday - or to auto-use them all!
A 'lite' client version for general users plus a 'standard' client for the admins is the gist. Just an idea - unless this can already be done???
Thanks
Richard
Yes it can already be done
Yes it can already be done but you need to edit the client configuration file usually at
c:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\vhui.ini
Add the entry under the
[General]
sectionHideMenuItems
then enter the text exactly as it appears on the menu e.g to hide the License...,Check for Updates...,Reverse Clients... menu item do this
HideMenuItems=License...,Check for Updates...,Reverse Clients...
that way you can hide whatever items you dont want to access
Thanks for that - i knew it'd
Thanks for that - i knew it'd be a sinple process...
However, each user will still have the ability to re-write the .ini to regain the functions, right?
If we roll out the client as a service, does the .ini still exist in the same path?

Michael, ignore my last
Michael, ignore my last question - i used the old fashioned method of reading previous answers.
Thanks
Yes they can rewrite the vhui
Yes they can rewrite the vhui.ini if they wanted to.
If its run as a service the ini file is in
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\vhui.ini
which very likely is not writeable by them.OK if you download version 3
OK if you download version 3.5.5 of the client it will now sort all entries in alphabetical order.
