Driver download for offline installations

Hello!

We are testing the trial version of VirtualHere USB Server in our lab environment at the office (if it works we may look into a site license), but are running into a problem where lack of internet access is not allowing the appropriate drivers to download. Unfortunately, due to IT policy on certain machines, internet access on some of these machines is simply not an option.

I can see in the server log the file(s) requested, such as the following:

2018-01-26 15:36:41 INFO :Installing driver for class Programming cables {62C3B72B-1D17-42ED-8412-6DFE78954552}
2018-01-26 15:36:42 INFO :Downloading https://www.virtualhere.com/sites/default/files/usbserver/windows/win64…
2018-01-26 15:37:03 ERROR :There was an error downloading, Couldn't connect to server (0)
2018-01-26 15:37:03 ERROR :Could not install driver for class Programming cables
2018-01-26 15:37:03 ERROR :Error binding device 1 [03fd:0008] to connection 5, BIND_ERROR

When I try to manually access the driver listed above (https://www.virtualhere.com/sites/default/files/usbserver/windows/win64…), I get a "Page not found" error.

1) Is there a way to perform offline installation of drivers, that I can download on an internet-connected device and then install them via usb stick to the isolated machine(s)?

2) Is there a way to "clone" the driver repo for offline use and point the server to a local folder through a commandline option (e.g. "vhusbdwin64.exe --driverlocation c:\mylocaldriverfolder")?

thanks,
..dane

For the time being you need to use the virtualhere linux server instead of the windows one for that device.

Hi Michael. Thanks for the quick reply. I'm unsure what you mean. Do you mean that the particular device driver that I'm looking for is only available on the linux server, or did you mean that if I use the linux usb server, then I can download drivers for offline installation? cheers, ...dane

Dear VirtualHere support team!

I have the same problem as audiodane described:

2020-08-11 13:50:03 INFO :Downloading https://www.virtualhere.com/sites/default/files/usbserver/windows/win64…
2020-08-11 13:50:04 ERROR :There was an error downloading, HTTP response code said error (404)

Is there any solution to it? Installing a driver manually shouldn't be an issue. But is it available for Windows? I'm stuck to Windows 10 and can't use Linux...

Thanks for your help!

Best regards,
Sven
