Raspberry Pi 4 - does RAM amount matter?

Hopefully a simple question. Does the amount of RAM matter very much? I'm planning to use a Raspberry Pi 4 and powered USB 3.0 hard disk as a Time Machine backup destination on my network. I'll dedicate the Pi to this task. Is 1, 2, or 4GB best? Also, if I have two USB hard drives attached so two different Macs can backup to individual drives, does RAM have an impact there? Just need to know what model Pi 4 to get. I already have two 4GB models but hate to waste them if less RAM will be okay.

RAM doesnt matter. If you are using the virtualhere mac client that only supports usb 2.0 at the moment so you need to plug the disks into the usb 2.0 port on the pi4. USB 3.0 support for mac will be coming sometime later this year. (USB 3.0 support is in the windows client and the linux client as of now, its just osx that only supports usb 2.0 via virtualhere)
