Xbox Controller Bluetooth version, Windows to Windows not working USB

Hey,

I've been trying to connect a Xbox controller (Bluetooth version) via USB, Windows to Windows.
If we select Use this device, it only briefly flashes and then disconnects again. If we use Auto-use it stays connected but doesnt get recognized as a controller in control panel. But shows up as xbox controller in device manager.

I've been googling and found similar threads but in Linux to Windows environments and seen that it can be solved with Bluetooth dongle or xbox wireless dongle.
Unfortunately i dont have either a bluetooth or wireless dongle. Is this fixable in a Windows to Windows environment? Or is this controller just not supported with usb?

No you need a bluetooth or wireless dongle for it to work, it wont work directly plugged in
