I am using VirtualHere on my Android TV running Android 8.0 on Sony A8G TV. I have an external plugged into the TV that I use to play media locally on the TV, and installed VirtualHere in order to access the drive from my PC and load content on the drive. I noticed when I run VirtualHere and connect on my PC, the drive is no longer visible on Android. For example is just disappears in VLC. Is this how this program is supposed to function? Is there any way to access the drive on Android while the server is running?

Yes the drive is only available in one place at a time. When you stop using via virtualhere the drive should become available again on the tv. However some android versions have bugs which dont properly remount the drive. SO you might have to unplug/replug the drive for it to remount on the tv
