S.M.A.R.T data on connected USB drives

can the USB server read/transmit the S.M.A.R.T data on connected USB drives?

For example... if I am using a Windows client to connect to a Linux USB server connected with USB drives, can my Windows client extract the S.M.A.R.T data from the remote USB drives if I have HDD reporting software like Hard Disk Sentinel Pro installed on the Windows machine?

It probably does. I had a quick check on google and found this https://www.smartmontools.org/wiki/USB . It basically depends on the controller. When you use the hard drive via virtualhere, it will disconnect it from the server to redirect it to the client. Then when you stop using it on the client it will be reattached to the server.
