How can I extend my wifi range with Raspberry Pi 3B

Hi I recently found out about the Virtual USB server and have been using it on my Pi 3B to connect to my USB devices wirelessly and I am quite happy with it.

However, I am now having the need to extend the Pi 3B wifi range so that I can access these USB ports from a bit further away. I have looked at USB dongles with the antennas on them, but they need the installation of a software. Since the Virtual USB server image overwrites existing content in the SD card, how can I have both the Virtual USB server and the USB dongle program run from the same SD card? Or is there a better way I can extend my range ?

Just use something like a GL-AR300M16 *with external antennas* instead https://www.virtualhere.com/hardware. And install cloudhub on that
