Config.ini empty

I have Linux Mint 17.3 cinnamon and the Config.ini file is empty except for IT-(bunch of numbers). Why is this? I just have the trial version and want adjust the pinging becuase we have been having random disconnects.

Thanks

Thanks for clarifying, i expected the defaults to be visible then change them from there.

if there is a network problem. I try to log the reason behind the disconnect, these reasons are shown in the client under System Messages and under the server in syslog.

I got the server working good with one device, i did up the ping disconnect by 10s though. I decided to buy a license and connected 8 of these devices https://mactekcorp.com/product3.php and started having issues with errors in the software driving the modems, "message not received in time" error. I messed with compression and ping timeouts with no luck. I have a dell optiplex 7010 with an i5 3570, 4 gigs ram,1gig network connection and linux mint 17.3. I also have the ivy bridge version. can there be some kind of data collision? I havent found any errors in the syslog or client other than the ones that i caused by restarting the server etc.

I dont think those devices are very data intensive, you should not need to change any of default server values or the ping values. What happens if you leave the ping as the default value? What about only two devices plugged in. And if possible can you run top when the server is running to see what %cpu the "vhusbdx86_64" process is using.

the cpu is running 14-14.6% with 8 plugged in and 1.7-20% with 1 device with the server set at default settings. I disabled auto find and went back to the generic 86_64 and specified the server with an I.P. which made a big difference but did not cure the problem. Still have failures with 1 device plugged in. The software that i am running has a non-adjustable timeout (at least at this time) and expects a response from the hart modem in a certain amount of time and one thing i did notice is there is usually more than one that will fail at the same time. Possibly a network problem? is there a way to optimize for speed?

It sounds like a kernel bug to me. Are you running the 4.2.0 kernel in your linux mint? Can you send me the var/log/syslog so i can see what messages the kernel is throwing. Perhaps its saying something in there about the USB packets being corrupted. mail [at] virtualhere.com (mail[at]virtualhere[dot]com)
