Sharing Game Controllers through android phones/tablets no longer works

 I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S5E with Android 11 on it. I connect an xbox controller and a mouse to it through a usb hub and use virtualhere to to control my windows 11 pc.

 The last time I did this was about a year ago and it worked just fine. Now I am trying to do it again and for some reason the xbox controller will not work on my PC. It shows up in the usb hub under the virtualhere pc client and it says it is using the device, but it does not actually connect it to windows. The mouse still works just fine.

Not sure whats wrong, did something change?

My device manager in windows even shows that an Xbox Controller is connected, but it just does not work

Try this

1. Exit the virtualhere client if it is running

2. Start command prompt  cmd.exe and type vhui64.exe -y

3. Download the previous client here https://www.virtualhere.com/sites/default/files/usbclient/5.4.1/vhui64…

4. See if that client works. If it does not, then something has changed with the microsoft drivers for the xbox dongle and you will need to roll them back

I'm not using an xbox dongle, I have the xbox controller plugged directly into the tablet with a cable (this used to work but now it doesn't as described before). I tried the wireless dongle and it doesn't even work anymore for me on android.

The xbox controller never worked via virtualhere directly plugged in you always needed the dongle via virtualhere.

The very latest virtualhere client it should work directly plugged in but it is tempermental so it might not work for you. I think microsoft has broken something with their driver updates for the xbox controller recently.

Thats weird. because directly plugging in the controller worked for me before. Either way, tried the xbox dongle and it doesn't show up on the windows client.

Well now the new version started working with it, so it seems more lile its an issue with the virtual here server on the android tablet.

Sometimes the xbox dongle wont be detected, but if I close the app and clear the cache then start it again, the xbox dongle shows up.

Yes i got another report of the new version working ok with the xbox dongle just then too.
