RPI 5 / Linux / VH Server odd behavior

I have VH up and running and it’s working, but what’s odd is my RPI seems essentially frozen. I have the pi connected to a small monitor and as soon as the server starts the keyboard and mouse no longer work.  Has anyone else experienced this behavior?

Have a look in the virtualhere client, Do you have "Auto-Use all on this hub" checked? If so it will redirect all usb devices attached to the pi including the mouse/keyboard to the remote client.

OK try this

systemctl stop virtualhere

edit /usr/local/etc/virtualhere/config.ini

and add the line

AutoAttachToKernel=1

then save the file and restart the pi

that didn't work either...however, I did notice one thing.  Forgive me for starters, I'm a newb to Linux.  I downloaded the file from virtualhere site, and its sitting in the Downloads folder, which is where I'm launching it from, thats also where the config.ini file seems to live....I've been searching for it.  I did make the edit and its still not working.  I appreciate your help!

OK i just dont think this is related to virtualhere then. Virtualhere will not grab usb devices when it starts. I think its something else

Okay, it’s just odd that as soon it starts, nothing works. 

Question, if I’m running an RPi 5 with Linux64, which version of VirtualHere server should I be running?  Maybe I’m running the wrong one?


Also, where should the server file live?  I presume the downloads folder isn’t proper…

Okay, so I wiped my RPi OS and installed Ubuntu, ran the install script for the generic install and I’m still running into the same issue which is basically the RPi becomes completely unresponsive except over SSH from another computer.  If that’s normal behavior that’s fine, but it seems odd to me.
