VirtualHere will not start when running as a daemon on Ventura 13.6

VirtualHere, which I've run for years, suddenly stopped starting up today, until I reentered:

sudo /Applications/VirtualHereServerUniversal.app/Contents/MacOS/vhusbdosx -b

This, I believe, removed it as a daemon, and it starts when I do this, but of course now osascript wants me to enter a password every time. The log file is not helpful, filled with entries like this:

Ok stop and exit the virtualhere server if it is running.

Then run

sudo /Applications/VirtualHereServerUniversal.app/Contents/MacOS/vhusbdosx -b

This added VH to the list of apps allowed to run in the background - daemon, I assume that means, essentially - but upon a reboot the server wouldn't start, and here is the log:

After it boots can you run

ps -ef | grep vhusbdosx

in terminal. Does it show anything?

That actually clued me into the solution.

I had it in the startup items, so it was trying to start twice.
