Android Client?

I've noticed a few forum posts that mention an Android client, but the only URI to the Google Play Store was broken, and searching didn't find anything.

Is there such a thing yet?

No, i pulled it because it requires input from manufacturers to enable the linux kernel usbip client module so the virtualhere client can use it. (The virtualhere server is completely different and works fine on android)

Sorry to hear this. I've looked into the problem of pairing Sony DS3 hand controllers with the Shield Tube variant (no USB...) and thought that maybe a client running on the Tube could solve this (pairing seems only possible with DS3 if one first connects it via USB). It would have been great to pair these DS3 controllers that mostly gathers dust to this relatively cheap peace of hardware (nvidia shield tube).

Yes , perhaps contact nvidia and tell them the scenario and they might put it in their todo list :)

Hi Michael, any news regarding a possible Android client? That would be nice! I would be able to send documents to my USB printer from my smartphone 🤞😊

Not possible, google doesnt include the necessary API

I see... That's intricate... Do you think there could be a way to circumvent this lack of API from Google? I was thinking about the way it works on Windows (client) and on a NAS (server) : an Android client could be designed to only send the document to a local server (e g. a NAS) with a VirtualHere server waiting for connections. The existing VirtualHere server would do the hard stuff converting the incoming data and sending it over to the USB printer properly.

To initiate a print on the Android phone or tablet, the user could either print from his phone menu (e.g. in Adobe Reader) or share the document with VirtualHere from the file explorer.

Maybe I'm completely off the wall, and this is not possible to circumvent this way, I'm not a software engineer, just thinking out loud 😉

No, it is impossible because its requires a kernel module in the linux firmware that runs Android.
