VH Server crashing when using Logitech camera

Hello,

I started having an issue with the last two releases of VH client (5.8 and the one before) using the Windows App Store VH Server (4.7) where if I attach a Logitech USB Camera, after sometime, the VH Server process crashes.

Below is a Windows Event Log entry of the crash:

Faulting application name: vhusbdwinw64.exe, version: 4.7.0.0, time stamp: 0x670e0020

Interestingly enough, if I don't attach the USB camera, but attach other devices like a USB speaker and Microphone, I don' have the issue.  It's only with the camera.

Things I have tried:

  • Updated to latest version of Visual C++ Redistributable
  • Run the VH Server as admin
  • Ran sfc /scannow and dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth - both are good

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Craig, Can you see the picture from the webcam ok for a short time before it crashes? What actual webcam model is it? And if possible can i have a quick look with rustdesk or anydesk while you are there to log the crash.

Hi, yes I can see the picture for a bit and everything seems ok, then the VH Server process crashes after some time.  The model is Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam.

I have been away for a few days but I'd be open to having you check with a tool to log the crash.  Let me try to make sure I can reproduce the issue consistently over the weekend.

Perhaps we can connect on Monday?  Thanks!

Hi Michael,

I was able to use VH on multiple video calls without issue today.  I'm not sure if something got updated in the meantime on my machine but I can report that it worked flawlessly today.  I'll keep an eye on things this week and if I encounter the problem again, I'll let you know.  Thanks!
