I saw this forum post here: https://www.virtualhere.com/node/3037 while looking for a existing thread on this proposal & decided to create a new one instead of tossing a comment given it's not quite the same feature.
Instead of a one-client-to-many-servers license situation, there would still be a many-clients-to-one-server scenario, but one of the clients provides the license to the server. The license 'lifespan' would be tied to the client device, but consumed by the server. As an example: the server could have an IP address field, when populated, will attempt to negotiate the license with the client of the corresponding machine.
The specific use case for this feature is the ability to use older devices whose lifespans may be shorter than their clients. I was hoping to re-use old phones whose mobile days are behind them (spent battery, busted screen, etc.), but can still be used as a server. It would suck to toss a license onto one of these devices just to see it give out a month later.
Understandable you have to be selective about what features are developed. A one-man band doesn't have the luxury of implementing every feature request under the sun.
I'd also like to add the asterisk that my use case is more so settling for what's possible, since I'd rather my TV be the server, but unfortunately LG (along with most smart TV manufacturers...) have developed pretty closed systems. It would be awful to request something and then not use it (in the off chance it was implemented) just because I was able to root my TV 😵💫
.
Virtualhere wont work on the LG tv's because they use a different operating system to most (webtv) which virtualhere wont work with.
Oh goody so id be on the hook for making infinite old versions of phones work with virtualhere for the infinite future for a one off cost of US25. Sounds like a great deal! I cant wait to start. Ill take all my weekdays and weekends working on this. Just imaging all the things i can buy for that US25! It will be so awesome.
Oh wait , no thats crazy and i cant be bothered

Thanks for responding so quickly & confirming incompatibility with webOS. Did not find much online about the topic.
Sorry for the confusion, I wasn't asking for indefinite support for all android devices. I agree, that would be insane.
If an android device stopped working due to incompatibility or defect, then that's the age of the device showing.
It was a niche feature where the android license would be derived from a client. Time would be better spent on other things.
.
To summarize: Ill keep the licensing as it is, however if there is a bug in the current version in the Play Store (or on this website) then that is definitely VirtualHere's responsibility to investigate and/or fix if possible in a timely manner.
