Hi,
I am trying to share some Bose Companion 5 USB Speakers in a Qnap Ts-253 Pro.
I am getting to the conclusion that for some reason the speakers are “not supported” by this NAS unit, but i decided to post to the forum hoping someone could have already managed to workaround a similiar situation.
The speakers work flawlessly when connected directly to the computer.
When connecting to the nas unit i am able to select them in Qnap HD Station preferences as NAS Audio Output Audio(UBS Audio). Also in Kodi system settings -> Audio output i can choose between BOSE USB Audio, SPDIF and BOSE USB Audio Analog, but again no sound.
Regarding VirtualHere the client detects Bose USB Audio attached to NAS, which i can select and use but there is no sound. When i list the usb devices on the nas i get:
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 05a7:1020 Bose Corp.
Also lsmod | grep snd gives me this:
snd_usb_caiaq 36914 0 - Live 0xffffffffa03ef000
snd_usb_audio 119090 1 - Live 0xffffffffa03c3000
snd_usbmidi_lib 19464 1 snd_usb_audio, Live 0xffffffffa03ba000
snd_seq_midi 5104 0 - Live 0xffffffffa03b5000
snd_rawmidi 18057 3 snd_usb_caiaq,snd_usbmidi_lib,snd_seq_midi, Live 0xffffffffa03ab000
The speakers seem to be recognised but something is not working on the nas side.
Sorry for the HD Station e Kodi part, if i’ve someone as workaround this situation i would appreciate the advice.
Best regards,
Pedro Caixinha
Update
After installing some optware i managed to get some functionality of the server to get sound from the speakers and it works fine.
Regarding VirtualHere, the conclusion i get is that for some reason, it gets very "laggy", it is noticeable the lag in Windows and in OSX its just noise even with gigabit ethernet.
Thanks anyway.
Regards,
Pedro Caixinha
Thanks for the feedback, OSX
Thanks for the feedback, OSX wont work with isynchronous devices like speakers, windows will work with most of those devices but perhaps the QNAP is grabbing the speaker or something when virtualhere is trying to use it.
