All,
We're having some real issues with our DS216se - it is currently unreliable as a VH server (irregular drop-outs). FYI We're hanging 3 x 20 port powered hubs off it, with only 15 dongles currently connected and it is the only package installed
I've requested assistance from Synology but aren't holding my breathe that I'll get an answer or update solution any time soon. I feel the problem is bigger than just the USB host controller - I have issues whereby the NAS won't reboot after a VH drop-out...
We require the NAS/VH to be available 24/7/365. Can anyone else who has this availability and reliability provide details of their NAS please?
Thanks
Richard Blomley
As a process of testing...
...i've installed a copy of Ubuntu on a spare machine, bought another license, and connected my hubs/dongles to it.
Success in relation to getting it up and running using your instructions and, after a few hours at home, I've got a good idea how i'll configure the config.ini tomorrow.
My linux is a bit rusty - and never really got into bash files - can you give me a heads up how to write a quick script which will auto-start VH at reboot? I tried bastardizing your instructions for the Pi, but hit a dead end due to a lack of knowledge.
Thanks
Richard
OK, great yes you can look
OK, great yes you can look here "Installing custom init scripts" https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBootupHowto and basically change around the pi init script so its more like the one on that page
