Brand new to this.
I want to run "Canon EOS Utility" on my windows computer and control my DSLR camera from the computer. Normally I plug the male USB into the PC, and the other end into the camera to make the connection.
I have installed the VirtualHere client on Windows and the Server on my Android Note 3. My windows client can see the server labeled as "Android Hub".
I am assuming what I am going to do now is plug the male USB from the DSLR into the Android and when I do, my windows machine will see something listed under the Android Hub. I will click "use" and once I do, it will look to windows just like I plugged it in directly. Is that correct so far? At that point it should be business as usual.
But, at present, I have no way to plug the full size male USB into an android, as Android is a microUSB connection. Therefore, I am again assuming that all I need is a microUSB to Female USB adapter to plug into the Android. That will allow me to plug the DSLR into the female adapter and the connection will complete. Am I still good?
Should I later decide I want to expand to more than one connection, I can plug a USB Hub into my adapter, and then plug the DSLR into the hub, and whatever else I might want to control. Everything will show up under my Android Hub on windows. Should I do this though, I need to purchase a license for the server to allow more than one connection. Yes?
Final question...How does my Android stay charged during this process?
Thanks,
Larry

After some research, let me try and answer my own question.
When using an android, what I am looking for is an OTG cable. This will allow me to plug in a USB device (camera, Memory Stick, etc). If I look carefully on the internet, I can find cables that are both OTG and charging for the Note 3. That is what I want.
Once I do, just click USE on the client after my USB device is plugged in and I am good to go.

Hi, yes you definitely need an OTG cable as that tells android to act as a usb host rather than a device. You need to be running the latest android that you can find . Looking at the specs for that phone it seems its android 5.1.1 , and a cable like this one https://www.gadgets4geeks.com.au/micro-usb-3-otg-cable-adapter-for-sams… should work. I dont know whether that extra power input is for the phone or the usb device but give it a try and see if it charges the phone at the same time.
