Huge list of questions, about to purchase but need to check some boxes :P

I have a few questions before I proceed with my purchase.

1) i predominantly use a shieldtv with the steam link app. Using a DS4 or Xbox One is currently possible, however not ideal due to android hijacking some button mappings (select/back etc) and requiring valve to improvise with button combos. I detest it. Will this solution allow me to circumvent that and still use steam configs system for mapping? (I assume so, but want to be certain)

2) I also own standalone steam link units, which I may use again one day. (androids controller woes had me close just yesterday, hence looking into this). Im unsure of which license I buy? Obviously for the steam links I would buy the steam link version (13.99 i think?). And I see the android version for 25 which I assume Is what I want for the shieldtv. Do i need to buy both if I want the solution available for the shieldtv steam link app AND the steam link hardware? Or would the android license include both platforms?

3) Ideally I would use my controllers wirelessly ala bluetooth dongle, however at current I have a predicament I'm unsure how to work around. My pc has an integrated BT controller. I lost it once and after fruitless troubleshooting, it re appeared on its own a few months later. (they have a tendancy to disappear, been a windows issue for years best i can tell) . This makes me apprehensive regarding turning it off for long periods of time (almost at all lol).

So the first part of this is a feature request considering 2 BT adapters at once evidently kills windows BT. an auto toggle off and then on when Virtualhere detects an adapter on the shield/device. (not sure if this is possible or how hard it would be).

The second part is simply a request for advice as how to best work around the situation assuming the feature cant or wont be implemented. For now i'll play with a long usb cable im about to buy after making this post :P

I play at my pc and tv almost equally, so i'd be juggling adapters like crazy. Do people simply toggle their bluetooth at their pc when theyre going to play at the shield, and then toggle it back on at the pc when theyre gonna use the pc? No way to automate this to any degree?

My only fear is losing the windows integrated BT adapter again and then having to move the usb bt back and forth lol.

4) If I am at the shield, and no controllers are paired/im using it to watch tv (but the bt adapter is plugged into the usb), would it require my pc's integrated BT to still be off?

5) How does this handle the shieldtv's remote? It pairs via bluetooth to the shields integrated bt controller i believe right? Does this still function as normal and the pairing between controllers and virtual here goes on within the virtualhere server app on the shield?

6) I noticed via the post above me, that the xbox controllers arent working plugged in to the steam link (assume this means hardware). Does this not apply to the steam link app/shieldtv? Hoping to use it with both DS4 and XboxOne controller (bt variant but as we've discussed, android annihilates the mapping on it and forces steam to use combos for some buttons)

7) I have 2 shieldtv's, do i need to buy a license for each one? >.<

Thanks for the time spent by whomever addresses my book :P

Omit #1 and #6 - ive been able to sort those two out. (no way to edit posts here it seems)

#3

and add 1 more question for good measure.

8) How does the pairing work with a bluetooth dongle? assuming I end up going that route at some point. Do i open virtualhere server on the shield to start the pairing process with the dongle plugged in?

Omit #8 it was a brain fart. obviously you pair it at the windows pc. Now i just have to solve how to have bluetooth on my pc AND the via virtualhere at the same time ;p

Regarding USB

1. Sometimes if you plug in another usb bluetooth dongle it will disable the on-board bluetooth. You can see what is enabled/disabled by opening Windows device manager and looking for bluetooth. If you right click on e.g Intel Wireless Bluetooth (or whatever your manufacturer is) then select Disable, it will then disable it and put a different icon with a down arrow

2. You can plug in another dongle and you should then see the bluetooth available for that.

3. use that dongle via virtualhere to your remote client. You then might need to sync the bluetooth devices to the remote client by pairing using windows as if the remote client was right next to you and can see your bluetooth devices

4. After you stop using bluetooth you could pull out the dongle and then reenable the on-board bluetooth by opening Device Manager again and selecting "Enable Device" for Intel Wireless Bluetooth.
