Server config.ini reset after server update on SYNOLOGY

Hello recently, I have noticed that every time I install a server update on Synology NAS, the config.ini that keeps my settings is being reset. I always have to copy my custom settings through ssh, which is not very convenient. Today i tried copying my old config.ini file inside the virtualhere folder to a backup file like config.bak, for an easier restoration but after updating server to version 4.1.2 I looked inside the folder and the .bak file was also erased. Is this the expected prcedure, or is it something wrong with my istallation process?

Thanks

To correctly upgrade your synology, just install the new version on top of the old version (dont uninstall first) and that will preserve the config.ini file

P.S in theory their app store is meant to upgrade but i think they have been too busy to upgrade virtualhere for a while

First of all, the version that is on Synology app store is a very old one. So I always come here and i doenload the latest version that is compiled for the srecific processor model of my NAS, and I manually isntall the server again. I never uninstall the old version, so the installation is on top of the currently working server. After the installation the old config file is gone as described above. The contents of the installation folder are also cleared. I have also noticed the inside the config, ini the values for It, EasyFindId and EasyFindPin are being changed after the upgrade, which makes me think that the config file is deleted and the server produces new values. Also the Activation license is missing and i have to manualy insert it via ssh. I have set up SSL connection for the clients so when the config file is refreshed with the default values, every client that is not on the LAN loses connection with the server.
I don't know if this is a problem of the Synology insallation method, or the virtualhere installation package, so that's why I am reporting this behaviour to you.

I had the same issues on my DS214play after updating to 4.1.1: license and settings gone.
I have not yet installed 4.1.2.
