Observations: iLok, Waves, Plugin-Alliance, eLicenser + Win10 & OS X 10.14.6 Mojave

Hi
just wanted to give you some feedback of what works and what does not work in my setup - and maybe get some help to solve it...
VH (registered version) is running on a RPi 3, dongles/USB-sticks are attached via an USB-Hub. I am running Windows10Pro and Mac OS X 10.14.6 "Mojave"

Generally speaking: on my Mac, I CANNOT see nor directly access any USB drives attached to VH via Finder. On Windows, I do see them and can access them freely via Explorer. Still, there are inconsistencies between operating systems regarding licenses residing on normal USB-sticks.

iLok:
- works on Mac, but iLok Manager takes 1'10" to start with VH installed instead of 10". I can perform all operations. Starting normal iLok-dependant software works without delay.
- does not work on Win - iLok Manager claims "network-sharing of an iLok is not allowed". Also, when calling iLok-licensed plugins from within software, the plugins are unregistered and the same message about network-sharing appears.

eLicenser:
- works on both Win and Mac

Waves (license on USB-drive!)
- works on both Win and Mac

Plugin-Alliance (license on USB-drive!)
- works on Win
- does not work on Mac, the drive is just not visible in the registration menu (strange, since Waves on USB works...)

Thanks for listening and answering...

... sorry, made a mistake about the USB-drive connected via VH: it IS visible in Mac's finder, I can access its contents. If I call up "information" about the drive, user rights are not specified, but claimed to be "customised" without further explanation. But even though in finder, the USB-drive is visible, "Waves Central" seems to be able to browse to it, whilst Plugin-Alliance's registration windows are not displaying the USB-drive.

Hi, to resolve the ilok sharing issue, plug the ilok dongle into port 2 of the pi see here https://github.com/mvp/uhubctl

VirtualHere on OSX unfortunately may not be reliable at version 10.14.6 and unlikely to work in 10.15 and impossible in 10.16 so i think virtualhere osx support may not last very long in the future unless apple has a change of heart and actually fixes their bugs.

Michael - thanks for the answer! I plugged the iLok into what I believe is port 2 of the Pi (the USB 2.0 port at the bottom, the lower one of the two), directly, without any hub. Unfortunately, when switching to the other computer, VH itself gives me the network warning when trying to connect the iLok. Only after I MANUALLY unplugged and reinserted the iLok, I can use it... Did I do anything wrong? Was it the wrong port, should it go in one of the USB 3.0-ports?

Thanks Michael -
For all, who might follow this thread - here is the solution, that works for me: USB port ONE (upper USB 2.0 port right beside the LAN-port)
I have a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B Rev 1.1
Following the numbering on the picture link you provided (https://www.pngfind.com/mpng/bboxTi_usb-port-numbering-raspberry-pi-hd-…):
- I was able to get the iLok running without any problem at USB port 1 (upper USB 2.0 port right beside the LAN-port)
- The USB stick with Plugin-Alliance licenses is sitting on port 2 (lower USB 2.0 port right beside the LAN-port), but still is only working on WIN10Pro, not with Mojave
- The eLicenser is on the upper USB 3.0 port, it has worked on ALL USB-ports

So, the iLok - most important for me - only worked on "USB port 1". BTW, I can actually SEE this: when the iLok sits in "UBS port 1", the RPi quickly shuts down the voltage on all USB ports. When iLok sits in any other port, this "shutdown" does not happen. As your link https://github.com/mvp/uhubctl explained, unfortunately ALL USB ports are powered down, so the USB drive and an attached 2.5" harddrive for a music server are losing power as well (surely not really good for the hard drive).

Thanks again for your support and for this great software.
