Jumpy Mouse...

Hi,

I've bought a licence to use Virtualhere to control my main PC which is in an adjacent building connected to my LAN. I currently have a keyboard, mouse and joystick connected through hub. However the mouse is so jumpy when connected through virtualhere that I can't really control the PC. I've tried without the hub with same problem.

I'm currently running the server on Synology ds211j although I do have a Pi which I haven't tried as yet.

Any idea why this might be?

Thanks,

Alex.

It sounds like a latency issue to me however if you are connected over a LAN it should be ok. Are you connected via a VPN to your lan? If so that needs to have tcp nodelay implemented in the vpn

Connected over (Gigabit) lan so shouldn't be a latency issue. Going to try setting up my Pi and see if thats any better, I wonder if the lower spec Synology (ds211j) is up to it?

OK gigabit should have no problem, give the raspberry a try.

The ds211j should be more than enough, so im unsure why the mouse it jumping. If the raspberry works ok then it must be something with the synology perhaps its loaded with other processing tasks?

Is it a normal mouse or bluetooth? Can you try with another mouse if possible? Im not sure that mouse is compatible for some reason

Found the problem! My fault, virtualhere is fine!

Ran some network bandwidth tests - turns out I had knocked the network cable on my patch panel and the link to the windows pc was running at 600k/s. Not so speedy! Explains why I couldn't access my network shares either! Anyway, plugged in the cable again (properly) and now at normal speeds and no mouse lag so, fingers crossed, all good!

Sorry about that!

Thanks,

Alex
