Windows Virtual Here USB Server with EasyFind

Hi,

I'm having a problem connecting to the Windows USB Server using a Windows VM. The USB Server is installed on my laptop. When I use the laptop on my home wifi it works. But when I tried an office wifi, the VM can't see the USB Server.

I can only see this error on the client.

2021-07-02 08:10:36 INFO :VirtualHere Client 5.2.1 starting (Compiled: Jun 8 2021 17:39:01)
2021-07-02 08:10:36 INFO :Client OS is Windows Server 2016 (build 19041), 64-bit edition
2021-07-02 08:10:36 INFO :Using config at C:\Users\xxxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\vhui.ini
2021-07-02 08:10:36 INFO :IPC available at \\.\pipe\vhclient

Thank you!

Your office wifi probably has a firewall blocking easyfind. So it wont work unless you allow UDP port 443 so easyfind can work.

I tried using my phone as a hotspot, it also didn't work. Does it matter if I'm using an iPhone? Thank you!

OK i can see your server is connecting to easyfind ok, however its your network where the virtualhere client is connected that is blocking it.

Your work wifi would have a firewall for sure if they setup their network correctly.

Some 4G network providers will block (or restrict) connections using whats called carrier grade symmetric-nat. I suspect your cell provider is doing this.

So you will either have to open port 7575 where your server is running and put in that server external ip directly into the virtualhere client (Right click USB Hubs->Specify Hubs->Add)

or

Try some relay system e.g zerotier. Note however a relay will add lots of latency, that is why virtualhere doenst use that method in easyfind.
